Album Cover

This is a painting I made out of acrylic paint. I used color and texture for the elements of art. I learned that layers of paint on top of each other can create an interesting effect. I am proud of how this piece turned out. It was original an owl, but I changed it to a cat because this is actually a Christmas present for somebody who likes cats. I don't like how long it took to come to the conclusion of what I was doing.

Semester Thoughts

For about four weeks of this first semester, I was not in this class because I was not living in this state. During this time, however, I did spend my opportunity in New York city to appreciate the art there. It was everywhere. If you haven't been to NYC, I highly suggest you go there. My favorite site there is probably the twin towers memorial. It consists of two huge metal statues that somewhat resemble the twin towers. They memorial also has parts of the plane and tower near it and the names of all those who died during 9/11. My favorite unit was the surrealism unit. I got to paint whatever I wanted and claim I saw it in a dream once. Painting the bulldog was pretty cool too. Although I do wish that he didn't look like he was wearing a jumpsuit. I enjoy painting, but I would like to do drawing a little more next semester. Since it is my last year in art, I plan on hopefully making a senior block on the wall.

Sol LeWitt

My class created a wall painting based on the artwork of Sol LeWitt. Acrylic paint was used for this. We incorporated color and line for the elements of art. I learned that working as a group can make the entire piece turn out differently. I am proud of how it turned out. I wish that some of the lines would've looked better.
I helped tape and picked out the color scheme for this painting. I think both the maker of the instructions and the group are the artist. I think Sol LeWitt is the artist on his pieces because he created instructions and let the paintings form. Those paintings would not be formed today if it had not been for those instructions.

Basquiat Piece

For this piece, I used a canvas and painted it as well as used oil pastel and crayons. It turned out ok. I did not really know what to do with this piece since it was imitating Jean-Michel Basquiat. I liked how it turned out. I think I could've changed a few of the colors. The elements of art that I used were texture and  color. The personal meaning to this is that I like doing the robot. The music symbols represent my passion for music. The tiger stripe is just kind of random.

Color Drawing Objective

I used brown paper rather than white to bring out the pinks from the oil pastel. I used blending and texture. I learned that brown paper actually works pretty well with oil pastels. I am pretty proud of how this turned out. I could've taken a little more time on the body of it.

Text Art

I used a piece of paper and a sharpie. I used texture and shading. I like how this turned out. It turned out a lot different than I expected. I could've done a little better on Europe. Oh well. It's alright.

Zentangle

For this project, I used paper and sharpie markers. My two elements of art were color and texture. I textured certain parts of the paper to make it look different. Although it was mostly black and white, it did have some silver in the picture. I am most proud of how the top left corner turned out. I am least proud of how some of the lines overlapped.
